RDS Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul 1959 Reissue with Brazilian Rosewood - "Perla" Burst

This guitar is a tribute to the golden era of electric guitar craftsmanship—a 2014 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Reissue (R9) fully transformed through the Real Deal Series program at Historic Makeovers.

Completed by Daniel Carneglia and the crew at Historic Makeovers, this instrument received our Deluxe Package conversion—a meticulous process inspired by the original late-’50s Bursts. Every element was carefully stripped, reworked, and rebuilt using period-correct techniques and parts, aiming to capture not only the look, but the soul of a true vintage original.

The makeover includes:

• A full vintage-correct nitrocellulose lacquer refinish in our “Pearly Gates” burst
• Our signature 1959 C-shape “soft shoulder” neck carve for unmatched feel
• A Brazilian rosewood fretboard installed using traditional hide glue, vintage-correct celluloid inlays, and medium jumbo frets
• All plastic components upgraded to RetroSpec aged parts: M69 rings, rolled TRC, amber bonnet knobs, jackplate, switch tip, and tuner tips
• RetroSpec aged hardware including ABR-1 bridge, lightweight tailpiece, tuners, thumbwheels, posts, and studs
• Period-correct wiring harness with RetroSpec custom taper potentiometers, Luxe Bumblebee capacitors, and Switchcraft toggle switch
• Custom-wound RetroSpec Ballestone PAF-style pickups, aged to perfection

This guitar feels alive—resonant, responsive, and dripping with vintage mojo. It ships in a lightly aged Lifton-style case and includes its original Gibson COA, case candy, and our Real Deal Series x Historic Makeovers certificate of authenticity.
